Plan ₿ Forum 2024 Achieves Milestones, Sets Stage for 2025 Events
Plan ₿ Forum 2024, a collaborative effort between Tether and the City of Lugano, celebrated its third annual event on October 25-26, 2024. The forum marked a significant milestone in promoting Bitcoin (BTC) and blockchain technology, according to Tether. The event attracted a record attendance of approximately 2,900 participants from over 60 countries, reflecting a substantial increase from previous years.
Key Highlights of the Forum
A notable highlight was the unveiling of a life-sized statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, created by artist Valentina Picozzi. The statue, located in front of Lugano’s Villa Ciani, symbolizes Nakamoto’s mysterious presence and the principles of decentralization and financial sovereignty. This installation underscores Lugano’s commitment to becoming a hub of blockchain innovation.
The forum also reported a surge in Bitcoin and USD₮ transactions within Lugano, recording 6,121 transactions amounting to $160,200 during the event week. This increase in cryptocurrency payments underscores Lugano’s leading role in crypto adoption.

Michele Foletti, Mayor of Lugano, expressed enthusiasm about the city’s growing reputation as a center for blockchain innovation. He emphasized the inspiring global participation and the positive momentum towards digital asset adoption. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, highlighted the forum’s success in driving the vision of financial freedom and decentralized technology.
Plans for 2025
Following the success of the 2024 event, the Plan ₿ Initiative has announced two major forums for 2025:
Plan ₿ Forum El Salvador: Scheduled for January 30-31, 2025, this event will focus on Bitcoin’s transformative role in emerging markets and will convene international experts to explore cryptocurrency’s economic impact.
The Fourth Annual Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano: Set for October 24-25, 2025, this forum will continue to explore themes of financial freedom and innovation in blockchain.
The Plan ₿ Initiative’s success in 2024 and its plans for 2025 highlight Lugano’s strategic role in advancing cryptocurrency adoption and digital payment infrastructures globally.
